Helen Nicozisis was born and raised in Manhattan, New York. She is actively involved in philanthropic work and was the first woman to be elected Parish Council president of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church (Lancaster, PA). Upon hearing the testimonies of missionaries visiting her home parish, she was inspired to become involved in Orthodox Church missionary work. Ultimately, Mrs. Nicozisis served as President of the Board of Directors for the Orthodox Christian Mission Center, where she over saw pan-Orthodox missionary efforts around the world. In recognition of her many contributions to missionary work, Mrs. Nicozisis was awarded both the Athenagoras Human Rights Award and the Humanitarian Award of the American Hellenic Institute, the highest award given to a lay person by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.

Helen Nicozisis is a 2021 National Hellenic Society Excellence Award winner.
