Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on September 4, 1931, Dr. George Korkos was a successful cosmetic surgeon for over forty-five years. He was active in many philanthropic causes, both inside and outside of the Greek American community. He founded the Milwaukee Bucks in 1968, serving as one of the team’s first physicians. A self-proclaimed sports fanatic, Dr. Korkos was over the moon when his Bucks won the 1971 NBA championship. He was awarded the game ball and proudly wore his championship ring. Dr. Korkos was also passionate about his Greek roots, and was a long-time board member of both the National Hellenic Museum and the National Hellenic Society. Dr. Korkos passed away on May 28, 2021; his beloved wife Penny, with whom he shared fifty-nine years of marriage, predeceased him in 2017.

Dr. George Korkos is a 2019 National Hellenic Society Excellence Award winner.
