Dean Metropoulos was born in 1946 in Tripoli, Greece and immigrated to the United States with his family when he was ten years old. His higher education included B.A. and M.B.A. degrees from elite Babson College. At age twenty-five, Mr. Metropoulos became a financial director for GTE International's (now Verizon) European, Middle Eastern, and African operations in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Metropoulos began his private equity career seven years later, and in 1993, he founded C. Dean Metropoulos & Company. Since that time, he has acquired and transformed over eighty-six companies, including saving the iconic Twinkie! An avid philanthropist, Mr. Metropoulos is a member of the National Hellenic Museum Board and committed to humanitarian causes around the world.
